General Body Meeting and SABA-CO Board Elections
Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 6pm

Join our SABA-CO general body meeting and annual board elections. We have several board positions that are open and we hope that you will apply! Serving on the SABA-CO Board is a great way to give back while getting more involved with our Colorado South Asian community and the larger legal community. 

In order to run for a Board position or vote, you have to be a dues-paying member. You can register to become a member here. If you’re interested in running for a position, please contact Deep Singh Badhesha at president@sabaco.org.

SABA-CO President-Elect

The President-Elect is an Officer on the Board of Directors of SABA-CO. As an Officer and Board member, the President-Elect is expected to participate in governance of the board and comply with all position requirements as described in the bylaws. In addition to general overall governance (including attending all board meetings and participating in events/event-planning, community outreach, membership development), the President-Elect’s specific responsibilities include: 
• Serving in the place of SABA-CO President when the President is unavailable or is requested to do so by the President.
• Assisting the President in meeting the requirements of that position and managing overall the Board of Directors and committee activities of SABA-CO.
• Developing the appropriate skills and knowledge of the organization in preparation for leading SABA-CO as President in the following year.

• Other duties that the Board may agree to from time to time.
 
SABA-CO Secretary
The Secretary is an Officer on the Board of Directors of SABA-CO. As an Office and Board member, the Secretary is expected to participate in governance of the board. In addition to general overall governance (including attending all board meetings and participating in events/event-planning, community outreach, membership development), the Secretary’s specific responsibilities include:
• Scheduling Board meetings, assisting President in agenda-formation, and keeping meeting minutes
• Familiarity with organizational documents (i.e., by-laws), ensuring compliance with by-laws, and record-keeping.
• Facilitating communication between Board members and general membership.
• Collecting substantive content and supporting Communications Director in issuing monthly SABA-CO newsletter.
• Assisting Treasurer in complying with annual filing deadlines (federal or state).
• Ensuring state filings with CO Secretary of State are up to date.

• Ensuring SABA-CO’s membership is accurate and up-to-date.
• Other duties that the Board may agree to from time to time.
 
SABA-CO Treasurer 
The Treasurer is an Officer on the Board of Directors of SABA-CO. As an Officer and Board member, the Treasurer is expected to participate in governance of the board. In addition to general overall governance (including attending all board meetings and participating in events/event-planning, community outreach, membership development), the Treasurer’s specific responsibilities include:
• Day-to-day accounting of organization
• Balancing bank account
• Creating invoices
• Paying invoices
• Providing financial reports as necessary (per event/monthly/yearly/as necessary)
• Pulling reports from Member Planet
• Filing annual 990 tax return
• General financial oversight to ensure fiscally responsible decision making by the board
• Assisting President in completion of tax exempt applications (federal /state)
• Other duties that the Board may agree to from time to time
 
SABA-CO Communications Director
The Communications Director is an Officer on the Board of Directors of SABA-CO. As an Officer and Board member, the Communications Director is expected to participate in governance of the board. In addition to general overall governance (including attending all board meetings and participating in events/event-planning, community outreach, membership development), the Communications Director’s specific responsibilities include:
• Assisting the Board in developing a consistent and coherent organizational message
• Overseeing a branding of SABA-CO that can be communicated to external audiences, consistent with the organization’s mission and strategy
• Updating and issuing the monthly SABA-CO Newsletter, with the assistance of other Board members and the SABA-CO general membership
• Maintaining the SABA-CO’s social media accounts
• Developing a social media presence to communicate more effectively SABA-CO messaging and communication to external audiences, including the press, utilizing websites and other social media platforms.
• Ensuring SABA-CO is represented on various listservs, communication distribution lists, and other media outlets in order to keep abreast of ongoing activities within the broader legal community and to communicate SABA-CO activities and accomplishments
• Developing and fostering relationships with other bar associations, including diversity bars
• Serving as SABA-CO’s representative on various boards, as agreed by the Board of Directors

SABA-CO At-large Director (Up to 3)
At-large Directors are Officers on the Board of Directors of SABA-CO. As Officers and Board members, At-large Directors are expected to participate in governance of the board. In addition to general overall governance (including attending all board meetings and participating in events/event-planning, community outreach, membership development), At-large Directors may be assigned specific duties by the President or the Board.
